Eva White in Lane One at Wollongong Continental Pool.

EVA WHITE has Lady Gaga disease.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic illness which can cause pain throughout the body.

In her recent documentary “Gaga: Five Foot Two”, the American singer and actress described living with chronic pain.

For Eva, a long-term Wollongong Continental Pool lap swimmer of 26 years, the disease resulted in her being relegated to a wheelchair short-term
and unable to exercise.

It was recommended she take up low-impact cardio in cold water – swimming laps at the Conti.

“It helps with inflammation,” Eva says.

Eva always swims in Lane One, blitzing through the water for 3km, every single day, except Mondays when the pool is cleaned.

Eva taught herself to swim, which explains her unique freestyle which is quick and choppy with long uneven breaths between multiple strokes.

The Wollongong local has a healthy and trim bikini body with olive skin. Her biggest fan is Lifeguard Rohan White, who always keeps an eye on her
when she swims.

One Monday morning, while cleaning the Conti, Rohan declared his love to all Lane One swimmers by finger-painting Eva’s name in small letters on
the bottom of the pool.

When Eva came to swim in the crystal-clear Tuesday morning waters of the freshly cleaned pool the next day her first thought was “how romantic”.

Since then, Rohan has repainted her name three more times on the same spot.

“The guy who had my job before, John Cooper, used to write his initials in the pool,” says Rohan.

“That’s where I got the idea from. And I thought ‘Eva’ isn’t too long [a word] so no one will get too upset.”

Eva and Rohan have been married since 2012 and have two children, Sofia (5) and Leo (3).
