Conti locals Ted Hinge and JB.
WHENEVER I consider skipping my swim, I think of Ted’s motto.
Ted Hinge is mates with JB (who featured in the previous blog post, “A bit of a legend”), and has been swimming at the Wollongong Continental Pool for 12 years.
He jumps in all year round, and come summer is known to swim twice a day – in the morning and late avo.
“Everyone who comes here is happy,” says Ted. “They’re in a good mood because they are here. So you enjoy each other’s company.”
Ted’s motto is framed on his wall at home.
A limited edition screen print by Oliver Goodfellow that reads: “You never regret a swim”.
“And it’s pretty true,” says Ted. “It always makes you feel better.”
Amen, Ted, that sure is an idea worth spreading.
