The Continental Pool is shut until further notice due to COVID-19.
Swimming is my preferred form of exercise to relieve stress, next to yoga.
I’ve visited all the ocean pools along the south coast, and conclude my local sanctuary is the best of them all.
The Conti gets 10/10 in my Pool Review of ocean baths:
- 50 metres
- Designated lap lanes with clear lane markings on the bottom of the pool, as well as lane ropes
- Hot showers
- Panoramic view of the ocean
- Legendary lifeguards (Wayne, Rohan and Bonita)
That’s me swimming freestyle in the smaller of the pools above (photo by Sylvia Liber).
The “Press Play” banner was sunk to the bottom of the pool with sandbags by the best lifeguard in Australia, Wayne-the-Brain, as a Destination Wollongong promotional.
While my haven of health and bliss is closed, I’ll be visiting the south coast’s unmanned pools that remain open, while adhering to the Australian government’s social distancing rules.
Next stop… Bulli Rock Pool.
